Recycle IT Appointed to WA Government CUARWD2025 Category A

Recycle IT is officially listed on the Western Australian Government’s Recycling and Waste Redirection Common Use Arrangement, CUARWD2025, as a Category A supplier.

Category A covers resource recovery and recycling services in metropolitan Perth and specifically includes e-waste sanitisation, recycling and destruction. The current WA Government supplier table lists Recycle IT under Category A.

What CUARWD2025 Category A means

The arrangement gives approved WA Government buyers access to resource-recovery and recycling contractors. Category A is non-mandatory and available in metropolitan Perth. The category includes recycling, repair, recovery, reuse, repurposing and related value-add services.

For e-waste specifically, the WA Government lists sanitisation, recycling and destruction as available Category A services. This aligns with the way Recycle IT manages retired technology through secure IT asset disposition rather than treating every device as general waste.

Services available through Recycle IT

Depending on project scope, Recycle IT can support government customers with:

• e-waste collection and resource recovery;
• IT asset disposition and asset reconciliation;
• secure data sanitisation and reporting;
• physical destruction of media where required;
• reuse, refurbishment and value recovery where appropriate;
• responsible recycling of end-of-life equipment; and
• audit-ready project and processing records.

Secure data destruction and current sanitisation guidance

Data-bearing government equipment should be assessed according to the media, device condition, information sensitivity and agency policy. Recycle IT’s secure workflows can include sanitisation for reusable equipment or physical destruction where reuse is not appropriate.

Our approach is aligned with the current risk-based principles of NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2, which superseded Rev. 1 in September 2025. We also operate within the requirements relevant to AS 5377:2022 for the management of electrical and electronic equipment for reuse or recycling.

Supporting WA’s waste hierarchy

CUARWD2025 prioritises reuse and reprocessing before recycling, energy recovery and landfill. That hierarchy is especially important for IT assets: secure, functional equipment can retain useful life, while genuine end-of-life assets can move into material-recovery pathways.
